I am DaVina
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, DaVina grew up in the heart of England, Birmingham. DaVina started song writing from the age of 12, although the lyrics didn’t always make sense and completely oblivious, she found she could express herself through singing from a very young age.
From the age of 15, DaVina had taken a greater interest in singing although it wasn’t something she planned to pursue as a career. She was creative about her singing and was deeply influenced by her musical ideas. In school music as a subject was not of much interest to DaVina. The enthusiasm and passion was there but due to overcrowded schools, tutors found it hard to dedicate their time to helping develop and expand DaVina’s musical passions.
“I get lost in Music, it’s an incredible feeling”
At the age of 16 DaVina left an all-girls secondary school to attend college, whilst under pressure as she didn’t know which direction to pursue.
“Even to this day I know how hard it is for school leaver’s to make a decision on their future, as we are always changing our minds”
DaVina then went on to studying finance which she was very much focused on as it was always a subject of interest. DaVina took on employment with Morrison’s which she thoroughly enjoyed. When DaVina met her partner at the time David, he took an interest in her vocals even though they weren’t the best at the time, he was moved by her vocal and musical creativity. Davina recorded her first track at the age of 17. The track was nothing serious but purely an expression and something DaVina was proud to call her own. DaVina then went on to learning the composition of beats and found this interesting as she had musical ideas ready to bring to reality.
DaVina knew from this experience that the music she had composed mentally was possible to expose in reality. Once DaVina was aware that this was possible, there was no stopping her from composing her own music and song writing.
In 2011, at the age of 23, DaVina made her first official track titled:
“Fast Love ”
“I have no favouritism over my tracks as they are all meaningful, personally. Fast love was my first real R’n’B single.”“I appreciate performing arts, I’m a visual learner and I am deeply moved by creative movement.”
With performances lined up for 2012, I have come to realise the real effort and hard work that goes into creating a performance. To name a few old skool and new, I am inspired by old Skool artists like Maxwell, Louisa Marks, ODB and Linkin Park and newer artists like T – Pain, Skepta, and Jessie J.
