Hosted by the Red Earth Collective at the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Birmingham this September, we collaborated to bring you, the StereoHype Festival brought together people from across the community for a vibrant and inclusive celebration of culture, creativity, connection, and wellbeing.

While rooted in raising awareness and supporting conversations around Black African and Caribbean mental health, the festival created a welcoming space for all communities to come together through the shared experiences of art, music, film, and performance. Held at the MAC in Cannon Hill Park, the event successfully encouraged unity, understanding, and positive community engagement in a safe and inspiring environment.

The festival programme featured an exciting blend of spoken word performances, live music, film screenings, and visual arts, giving local artists, creatives, and performers an opportunity to share their voices, talents, and lived experiences with the wider community.

Throughout the event, meaningful conversations around mental health and wellbeing were encouraged in a positive and accessible way, helping to challenge stigma, promote openness, and strengthen support networks within the community. Attendees were able to connect, reflect, and celebrate cultural diversity while engaging with important wellbeing themes through creativity and expression.

StereoHype Festival was a powerful example of how arts and culture can bring communities together, inspire positive change, and create lasting spaces where people feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered.
