In partnership with Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), the “Feel the Rhythm” initiative formed part of the Trust’s wider commitment to engaging with local residents and creating more accessible, inclusive, and community-led mental health support services.
Held at the Trust’s Endeavour House site in Erdington, Birmingham, this free family-friendly event brought together people from across the community in a welcoming and vibrant environment designed to encourage connection, open conversations, and positive awareness around mental health and wellbeing.
The event successfully helped break down barriers and reduce stigma surrounding mental health by creating opportunities for patients, residents, families, charities, and support organisations to come together in a relaxed and inclusive setting. More than 20 stalls were present throughout the day, offering activities and support including charity raffles, clay pottery workshops, face painting, wellbeing activities, and access to mental health information and local support services.
The atmosphere throughout the event was lively, uplifting, and full of community spirit, with live performances from talented local R&B, reggae, and punk bands alongside culturally diverse musical acts that reflected the rich diversity of Birmingham’s communities. Music, creativity, and shared experiences helped create a strong sense of belonging and togetherness for everyone attending.
As part of our wider summer programme, the event was a great success in strengthening community engagement, increasing awareness of local mental health support, and creating positive experiences that encouraged residents to connect, participate, and support one another.
