On August 28th, The Waiting Room (TWR) hosted a community pop-up store at Touchwood Shopping Centre, creating a valuable opportunity to engage directly with a wide cross-section of residents, professionals, and visitors throughout the day.
The event provided an excellent platform to raise awareness of TWR’s free health and social care directory while strengthening connections within the local community. It was incredibly positive to see how many people already recognised and valued the service, demonstrating the growing reach and impact TWR continues to have across the region.
Throughout the day, the team were able to have meaningful face-to-face conversations with members of the public in a relaxed and accessible setting. For those who were unfamiliar with TWR, the event offered an opportunity to introduce the platform and provide practical guidance on how it can support individuals, families, and carers in their everyday lives by connecting them with local and national services.
The lunchtime period proved especially successful, allowing the team to engage with a large number of frontline professionals who recognised the value of using the directory within their roles to better support the communities they work with.
Community interaction remained at the heart of the day, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback received highlighted the importance of continuing to create accessible spaces where residents and professionals can connect with support services, ask questions, and learn more about the resources available to them. The event was a great success in increasing awareness, building relationships, and empowering more people to make use of The Waiting Room within their communities.
