On October 8th, The Waiting Room (TWR) hosted a successful community engagement event at Windmill Shopping Centre in Birmingham, bringing together residents, front-line professionals, and visitors for a day focused on connection, awareness, and community support
The team spoke with members of the public in an open and welcoming environment, helping individuals and families better understand how TWR can support them in accessing local and national services tailored to their needs. For many attendees who were discovering the platform for the first time, the event provided practical guidance and increased confidence in using the directory to support their health, wellbeing, and everyday lives.

Being so close to a major Hospital and various Healthcare sites, the location proved particularly impactful, with many front-line professionals stopping by to learn more about how the directory could strengthen the support they provide within their own roles and organisations. These conversations helped build stronger partnerships and reinforced the importance of accessible community resources.

The day focused heavily on community connection. Enthusiastic feedback proved that residents and professionals need welcoming environments to meet. It enabled us to showcase how they can seamlessly access support, swap knowledge, and explore available resources. The event was a great success in strengthening relationships, increasing awareness of available services, and empowering more people within the community to make use of The Waiting Room as a trusted source of support and information.
